General Management and Communication Skills

The 15 Days full time Course on General Management and Communication Skills was introduced in the year 2002 to equip the entrants to the profession with interpersonal and introduced in the year 2002 to equip the entrants to the profession with interpersonal and economic scenario. This course is a prerequisite for membership enrolment of the Institute under Regulation 51A/72A of The Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.

Objectives:



The GMCS Course aims to equip the entrants of the profession with some essential skills, such as-

• General Management and Business Communication Skills
• Presentation Skills
• Group Discussion Skills
• Client Interaction Skills
• Legal document Preparation Skills
• To enable the participants to become more confident and capable of using the knowledge
gained while doing the Chartered Accountancy Course
• To increase the level of awareness of Management theory and Practice with the ultimate
aim of self development

Eligibility: 
• A student who has passed Intermediate / Professional Education (Examination – II) and is
serving last 12 months of practical training is eligible to undergo the course.
• A student who has passed Professional Competence Course / Integrated Professional
Competence Course and is serving last 12 months of practical training is eligible to
undergo the course.
• A student who completes Three Months’ Residential Programme in General
Management, Personality Development and Communication Skills / Six Weeks
Residential Professional Skills Development organized by the Board of Studies will not
be required to undergo GMCS Course.


Duration:
The duration of the course is 15 days full time (except Dubai Overseas Office, where it is
completed in 28 days-part time). Classes may be held 6 hours each day for 6 days a week (15 X
6 = 90 hours). The suggested timings are-
• 9.30 A.M. – 1.00 P.M. with half an hour break
• 2.00 P.M. – 5.30 P.M. with an half hour break


The broad allocation of time among the broad areas of the course contents may be as follows:
Part A: General Management - 30 hours
Part B: Communication Skills - 30 hours
Part C: Practical - 30 hours

Teaching Methodology:
Multiple methods including lectures, case studies, presentations, group discussions, management
games, projects, mock interviews etc. should be used. Eminent person of regional/national repute
may be invited for interactive sessions.
Fee:
The fees shall not exceed Rs.5500/- per student on non-residential basis inclusive of course,
study material, tea/refreshment. This fee structure is not applicable for those who undergo the
Course at Dubai Overseas Office.
Branches which wish to organize residential GMCS Course will follow the same training
calendar similar to regular GMCS Course. The fee for such programme will be Rs.20,000/- per
participant.
Faculty:
Faculty Members may be drawn from experienced and well known members of the profession,
management consultants/trainers and members of the academic community from
Universities/Management Institutes etc. having at least 5 years experience in their specialized
field. Eminent person of regional/national repute may be invited for interactive sessions.

Exemption for Disabled Students:
Students, suffering from 50% or above disability of permanent nature are exempted from
payment of fee.
